The new adidas Women's Clothing Collection for the Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Championships, 2008 is largely inspired by the latest in tennis fashion, but cleverly incorporates state-of-the-art performance fabrics while sticking to the strict ruling that predominantly white attire must be worn on court at all times.

Since its introduction in 1877 as a gentleman's tennis tournament, the Lawn Tennis Championships at Wimbledon have developed to become the premier grand slam tennis tournament in the world and is hosted annually by The All England Lawn Tennis Club at SW19, London.
The oldest tennis tournament in the world, Wimbledon has now grown from attracting a few hundred spectators to an attendance of close to 500,000 people. Players from over 60 nations regularly compete in front of a crowd of millions worldwide, through the press, radio, television and internet.
The 121st (2008) Wimbledon Championships are to be held start six weeks before the first Monday in August (i.e. Monday 23rd June 2008) and last approximately a fortnight, until all events are complete.
The Wimbledon Championships are played on grass, which, when dry is the fastest surface of all, giving the ball a low bounce which can be unpredictable. This tests to the limit the skill and agility of the competitors, adding to the excitement of the Wimbledon Championships, the only Grand Slam tournament to be held on a grass court surface.
