Pro:Direct Tennis

Dunlop brand ambassador Colin Fleming and Pro:Direct Tennis playtester Josh Brown test the Dunlop CX Series rackets.

You heard it here first: Dunlop is back in tennis in a big way. Powered by Srixon, the brand have made their intentions perfectly clear with an outstanding new range of rackets for 2019, a few big-name player signings, and an Australian Open ball deal.

They didn’t entirely disappear from the game of course, they’ve just spent a number of years in the tennis wilderness. But all signs point back to the top for Dunlop, especially after a storming 2018 ATP Tour campaign by their lead ambassador, big-hitting South African Kevin Anderson.

As usual, we wanted to find out for ourselves how the new rackets play, so we invited former Great Britain Davis Cup player, Colin Fleming, to partner-up with our own Pro:Direct Tennis playtester, Josh Brown, to give the CX Series a good ripping in a playtest. Watch the third episode of our Digital Demo Day below, where we go with Colin and Josh to the University of Stirling.

VIEW RACKETS

Dunlop’s new CX Series racket range covers a wide range of specifications and playing styles, and comes with the technology you’d expect in a tour-standard frame, whether you seek power, control, light weight or spin.

SONIC CORE

First up, Sonic Core promises to allow you to play harder, cleaner shots by dampening impact shock and reducing frame vibrations by up to 37%. Made with Infinergy foam developed by BASF, the largest chemical producer in the world, it gives a more comfortable hitting sensation and much greater rebound properties for faster ball speed off the racket.

POWER GRID

First up, Sonic Core promises to allow you to play harder, cleaner shots by dampening impact shock and reducing frame vibrations by up to 37%. Made with Infinergy foam developed by BASF, the largest chemical producer in the world, it gives a more comfortable hitting sensation and much greater rebound properties for faster ball speed off the racket.

BOX FRAME

The third proprietary technology comes in the form of a modern aerodynamic box frame shape. A thinner front edge and sharper angles allow the frame to cut through the air and allow you to hit a faster, cleaner shot.

So that’s the tech stuff in a nutshell. It all adds up to a bigger sweet spot, more power and control, cleaner shots and more spin.

SHOP THE DUNLOP CX SERIES

Last year we were invited to Dunlop’s launch event in New York ahead of the 2018 US Open where they announced they had become the new official ball supplier of the Australian Open. We got some time with Dunlop pros, Jamie Murray, Heather Watson, Zarina Dyas, Naomi Broady and Taylor Townsend to find out how their pros feel about their Dunlop rackets. See what they had to say here.
